How do I apply?

Application procedure

  • You can complete our application form online now or download a hardcopy of the application form and post it to us after you have completed it.
  • Once we have received your application form it should take us 3 days to process it.
  • If your application is approved we will send you a letter confirming your acceptance on to the programme and an invoice for tuition. We will also send you an invoice for insurance and home stay accommodation if you have asked for this.
  • You will need to apply for a student visa through Immigration New Zealand if you plan to study with us for more than 12 weeks.
  • Once you have paid your invoice we will send you an official receipt and an offer of place.
  • We will send you detailed information about the application procedure while you are applying to study with us, however if you have questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Note:

If you have studied at another institution in New Zealand, you will also need to provide information on your previous studies and attendance record, failure to provide this information may result in cancellation onf your enrolment at the University of Canterbury.

Admission to the University

If you plan to undertake degree study at the University we recommend you apply for entry for this at the same time you apply for your English language course to make sure you met the academic entry requirements. You can find information on how to apply for degree programmes on our international students page.

Please note that completion of our English language courses or the Certificate in English for Tertiary Studies does not give you automatic entry to the University.
