Learning Skills Centre
The Learning Skills Centre is a free advisory service and resource hub that focuses on writing and study strategies to maximise student achievement at all levels—from first-year through to PhD. We offer individual consultations with a learning advisor to discuss a specific assignment, as well as workshops, seminars, lectures, and online resources on critical thinking and writing in the university context—everything from the correct use of semi-colons, to creating a citations list, to subject-specific styles of discourse.
NEW in Term 2 – Academic English for ESOL Students is a two-part workshop covering tenses, prepositions and articles
Enrol in LSC Term 2 Workshops and Seminars Essay Writing, Science Writing, Smart Thinking,, Academic Skills for Thesis Writers, Stats Essentials, Excel Basics, Revision and Exam Preparation, Wrangling Long Documents, Presenting Data, Strengthening Sentences, Giving an Oral Presentation, Writing Fundamentals, Microsoft Word Tips for Writing Essays, Academic English for ESOL, (new course).
College of Education Update: LSC individual appointments and Quick Queries (2-3 pm Mon-Thurs) in the Education Library at Dovedale will begin again on Monday 25 February 2013. Frieda will also be offering an Essay Writing course at Dovedale (Mondays 1-2 pm), and will be visiting distance students in Nelson, New Plymouth and Rotorua in late Feb and early March.
Our location at Dovedale Education Library – Te Puna Ako, Ground Floor (Level 1) Learning Skills Centre assistance available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday pm.
